Exfoliation is the key for soft, smooth skin. Unfortunately we often neglect the skin on our body. Be truthful now! Is your skin ready for summer? If not, I have a great scrub you can use at least twice a week, more often if you like! It's a sugar scrub which can be made from ingredients from your pantry!
Use 1 cup sugar, mix with 1/2 cup of oil (preferable olive oil, grape seed oil, or avocado oil. If you don't have these exotic oils on hand, plain old vegetable oil will do. Mix the juice of 1/2 lemon or 5-10 drops of lemon essential oil.
Slather it on in gentle circular motions on to cleansed skin while showering. you can even use this scrub on your face. You will notice that the sugar will melt almost immediately into your skin, leaving it smoother in its wake. No need to apply moisturizer when you get out of the shower, the left over oil remaining on the skin leaves a nice, soft glow!
I love sugar scrubs especially for those of us of a certain age...wink, wink! Sugar is glycolic acid which is known for its exfoliating properties and easily penetrates into the skin. Oil is always good for moisturizing especially for us dryer types. The lemon scent will leave your soul refreshed!
hear this scrub is good for eczema, but again use with caution! It is always good to test a small area of skin if you have sensitive skin. And you should forgo this treatment if you have skin conditions such as abrasions, cuts or wounds.

Its a new blog!
I think this may be my fourth or fifth attempt to blog. I forget my passwords or get busy and don't write. Do those of you blog do this? I started reading blogs and news off the internet right after September 11th. It seemed the only place where I could get any real information as to what was transpiring. The news has only gottan worse since then, in my opinion. But I digress.
This blog is about skin. My hope is that this will eventually become a one stop shop where my clients and friends can get good information. I'm projecting right now. You see I''m only partially through with what I need to become a medical aesthetician. Aesthetician school starts for me on June 9th. What I have completed is Laser Skin Rejuvenation and Hair Removal. Its very exciting to be apart of this growing industry. Before, say 10 years ago, estheticians could only rub lotion on people's faces, lecture them on the importance on proper skin care, and pitch whatever skin product the salon had. Now we can work directly with dermatologists and plastic surgeons to give people results. It's very rewarding to work with an acne plagued teenager or sun damaged adult and help them improve their self image and self esteem. IPL (Intense Pulse Light) is just one treatment out there that gives results!
So...stop in and say hi! It is my wish to help you with your skin care needs!
